NEW HEAD OF SCHOOL FOR ROYAL SCHOOL IN TRANSYLVANIA

Royal School in Transylvania has appointed Mr Brendan Clarke-Smith as their new Head of School.

Mr Clarke-Smith has a wealth of experience both teaching and managing in the education industry, as well as many years working in the voluntary sector and as a former politician in his home city of Nottingham, United Kingdom. Mr Clarke-Smith joins Royal School from the International School of Bucharest and has also enjoyed spells working in both Sweden and Norway.

“I am absolutely delighted to be joining Royal School at this exciting time in their development” said Mr Clarke-Smith. “I have considerable experience of the Cambridge IGCSE, AS and A Level curriculum and am looking forward to continuing the significant progress made at Royal School in both our Primary and Secondary sections”.

As part of the handover, Mr Clarke-Smith received a ceremonial baton from outgoing Head of School Paul Page at Royal School’s end of year Community Assembly and Awards Ceremony. This followed a highly successful Summer Fair, which was supported by a number of volunteers and local businesses.

“I am passionate about Romania and, whilst I enjoyed living in Bucharest very much, I believe that Cluj-Napoca is a wonderful place to raise a family.” said Mr Clarke-Smith.  “My wife is from Romania and our son was born whilst we were living in Norway. Having lived in numerous places, I can confidently say that Cluj-Napoca is a city where we will be settling down for the long term and we look forward to becoming part of the local community… I’m already planning on attending a few football matches!”

Royal School in Transylvania still has both Primary and Secondary places available for the 2018-2019 academic year. For more information or to take advantage of a FREE day for your child at Royal School, visit www.royalschool.ro or telephone +40 770 103 108.
