Head’s Letter: Official Secondary Opening at Royal School & Annual Meeting

Last week, on the 15th November, we were very proud to host an event which highlights both the surprisingly swift development of Royal School as well as the commitment to excellence in Romania: the official opening of the Secondary Section at Royal School.

The parents and visitors to the school were welcomed by the school Ambassadors and escorted to the assembly where students, staff and a member of the Schools for Europe Foundation addressed the audience on national, local and personal perspectives on education in Romania.  The clear message being that Royal School presents a fresh and lively alternative to the mainstream education on offer in both Cluj and Romania – a 21st century school for 21st century learners.

Once the assembly was complete, all members present moved to a ribbon cutting service with parent, Mr Ghillebaert and me.  The ribbon was cut, Mr Ghillebaert addressed the onlookers stating how proud he was and wishing all present all the best of luck for the future of the school.

Attendees were then treated to light snacks and an opportunity to view the excellent facilities in the school.  All-in-all, a most pleasant morning was had by all (which did not disrupt the learning process too much!) and it gives me great pleasure and honour to formally announce to the community at large, that Royal School is on a pathway towards huge success with an opportunity to change the landscape of the future of Cluj and Romania by leading the way in education.

On a personal note, the opening of the Secondary section of the school really is a significant step towards the future of education in Romania.  Royal School has positioned itself, with the help of students, parents, staff and all those connected to the school, to lead the way in Cluj, Romania and Eastern Europe in transforming this and generations to come into the leaders and change-agents of tomorrow.  Through innovative teaching, state-of –the-art technologies as well as a blend of the traditional and modern we are truly blessed to be able to say we are Royal School and where we lead, others follow!

Many thanks to all involved in making this auspicious occasion so enjoyable.

Royal School  Annual Meeting

On the same evening of the Secondary opening, all connected to Royal School were invited to partake of a fine buffet and wines in the Ballroom of Casa Boema restaurant, in the heart of the city.  Many prestigious guests came along to enjoy the company of teachers, parents and Governors of the school.  Prospective parents had the opportunity of meeting those already established at the school.

Joining the throng were guests from the British-Romanian Chamber of Commerce, the British Council as well as business leaders from across Romania.

Despite the cold, there was a warm, friendly, informal and international atmosphere in the ballroom and a lot of strategic networking conversations were to be heard amongst snippets of conversation pertaining to Royal School growth, confidence, curricula, future plans and a whole host of other, ice-breaking dialogues.

In short, a fine annual get together and an opportunity to make new acquaintances and re-forge old friendships was had by all.

Huge “thanks” must go to both Casa Boema for such an illustrious locale, with delightful service as well as to the Schools for Europe Foundation for being the driving force behind such a wonderful evening.

If, by any chance, you happened to have missed out on either of these events, please keep an eye out for upcoming events such as the Christmas Fayre (9th December) and Christmas Carol Service (18th December).  Looking forward to seeing you there!

Yours sincerely

Mr. P. Page

Head of Royal School
